Asuka adopts an unlimited mileage policy.

Q2) How to Handle Early/Late Pickup or Return?

  • Early Pickup: If you wish to pick up the vehicle earlier than scheduled, you may need to pay an additional fee. Please confirm vehicle availability and any potential extra costs with the rental company if you want to change your pickup time. Generally, if you pick up the vehicle earlier, you must also return it earlier; otherwise, you will be charged an additional fee based on the market rate.

  • Late Pickup: If you need to delay your pickup, please contact the store or customer service before the original pickup time; otherwise, you will not be able to collect the vehicle. It is recommended to arrive at the store at the scheduled time, as stated in the terms and conditions, any unused rental period will not be refunded if you are late.

  • Early Return: If you return the vehicle before the scheduled return time, any unused rental period will not be refunded. Sometimes may also charge an additional fee for early returns.

  • Late Return: If you need to extend your return time, please notify the store in advance. The extension cost will be calculated at market rate, and payment should be made directly at the store upon return. If you do not notify the store in advance, you may be subject to additional penalties.

Q3) Can Multiple People Drive an Asuka Rental Car?

Yes, if you wish to have multiple drivers, please register the additional drivers at the time of pickup and pay the associated fees. Each driver must provide the same pickup documents as the main driver. If an unregistered person drives the vehicle, the insurance will be void.

Q4) What Do You Need to Prepare for Renting a Car?

On the day of pickup, please bring all drivers' valid driving licenses that can be used in Japan, passports, and the payment (generally, only credit cards are accepted). Payments should be made using credit cards that are partnered with our company. If paying in cash, you must provide additional documents to verify your identity (copies are acceptable) along with your driving license.

Q5) What Type of Driving License is Required to Drive in Japan?

You must have a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) that conforms to the format specified by the Geneva Convention.


Q6) Can the Person Who Makes the Reservation Be Different from the Rental User?

Yes, someone other than the rental user can make the reservation. However, please confirm the driver's details before making the reservation.


Q7) How Many Days in Advance Can I Make a Reservation?

You can make a reservation up to 12 months in advance. Additionally, if you need a vehicle urgently, you can reserve a car with just 12 hours' notice.


Q8) Can I Cancel My Reservation?

Yes, you can cancel your reservation. Please contact us as early as possible if you wish to cancel. When canceling or changing a reservation, you must provide the email address and order number used during the reservation process. Customers cannot cancel on their own.

  • Cancellations made 7 days before pickup will receive a 100% refund.
  • Cancellations made 6 to 3 days before pickup will receive a 50% refund.
  • Cancellations made less than 3 days before pickup will not be refunded.


Q9) Can I Change My Reservation Details?

If you need to change your reservation, you must contact customer service, providing the email address and order number used during the reservation.


Q10) What is the Maximum Rental Period?

The maximum rental period is 1 month.


Q11) Is Smoking Allowed Inside the Car?

In compliance with Japan's domestic smoking regulations, all Asuka vehicles are non-smoking.


Q12) What Should I Do If I Can't Pick Up the Car on Time?

If you are unable to arrive by the scheduled pickup time, please notify the rental location as soon as possible. If you do not contact us within 1 hour after the scheduled pickup time, your reservation may be considered canceled, and the reserved vehicle may not be available for you.

Q13) What Should I Do in the Event of an Accident?

If an accident occurs, please remain calm and follow these steps:

Vehicle Breakdown:

  • First, contact the local rental location staff to explain the situation.
  • The local staff will provide assistance or guide you over the phone to resolve the issue.

Accident Handling:

  1. Assist Injured Persons:
    Provide help to anyone who is injured.

  2. Ensure Safety:
    To prevent further accidents or secondary injuries, move the vehicle to a safe location. If you are on a highway and cannot move the vehicle, place warning triangles and flares to ensure safety.

  3. Report to the Police:
    Contact the police to report the accident.

  4. Confirm Details:
    Gather information from the other party involved, including the location of the accident, their surname, and contact information.

  5. Contact Customer Service:
    Reach out to the customer service center at (+852 60599523).

Do Not Settle on the Spot:
Avoid making any settlements at the scene. Once a settlement is made, insurance coverage will be void, and you will be responsible for the full amount.


Q14) What Should I Do If I Receive a Parking Violation Ticket?

If you receive a ticket, please go to the local police station to handle the matter and pay the fine. When returning the vehicle, present the "Traffic Violation Notice" and the payment receipt indicating the payment date. If you do not show the "Traffic Violation Notice" or "Payment Receipt" at the time of return, you will be required to pay the specified parking violation fine.

  • Refund Procedure: After paying the fine, you can show the "Traffic Violation Notice" and the payment receipt to the rental location to receive a refund of the parking violation fee. The refund will be transferred to a designated account (the remittance fee will be borne by the customer).

  • Non-Payment Consequences: If we receives a notice regarding an unpaid violation fine, or if the customer fails to pay the specified fees by the deadline, it may register the information with the National Rent-a-Car Association's information management system. Please understand that rental companies under this association may refuse future rental requests from that customer.


Q15) Can I Pick Up or Return the Vehicle Out of Business Hours?

Pickup and return procedures must be completed during the business hours of each location. If you need to pick up or return the vehicle outside of business hours, additional fees will be charge. Please inquire with customer service for details.


Q16) Can I Rent a Car If I Forget My Driving License?

If you cannot present a valid driving license and passport at the time of pickup, you will not be able to rent a vehicle. Please ensure you have them with you on the day.


Q17) How is the Fee Calculated If I Wish to Extend the Rental Period?

We will charge additional fees based on the rental price list for the time of extension.


Q18) What Should I Do If I Can't Refuel the Vehicle at Return?

If the vehicle is not returned with a full tank, a refueling fee and processing fee will be charged. The refueling fee will be calculated based on the distance driven according to the company's regulations, at a rate of HKD $10 per liter.


Q19) Will Costs Vary by Region and Season?

Rental prices will vary depending on region and season. The actual costs are as indicated on the website. In case of any disputes, Asuka reserves the right to make the final decision.


Q20) Can I Specify the Rental Vehicle's Class and Color?

You can specify the vehicle model, and Asuka will do its best to provide the chosen model. If the specified model is unavailable, the actual vehicle provided will be of the same class or an upgraded model, with no extra charge. However, due to variations in vehicle availability, including year, class, and color, specific requests cannot be accepted.


Q21) Is Full Insurance Mandatory?

Asuka rental fees include basic insurance; full insurance is not mandatory. Please decide for yourself when making the reservation.


Q22) If There Are Multiple Drivers, Does the Compensation Amount Apply to All Drivers?

When renting, you must let us know for multiple drivers and pay the additional fees. If an unregistered driver operates the vehicle, the insurance will be void, so please be aware.


Q23) Is There an Age Limit for Renting a Car?

Different vehicle models have different age limits; please refer to the website for specific details.


Q24) Is It Mandatory to Rent an ETC?

Renting an ETC is not mandatory. However, the ETC system provides convenience by allowing tolls to be paid without cash, saving time. Additionally, vehicles equipped with ETC may receive various special discount tickets.


Q25) Do Children Under 6 Years Old Need to Rent a Safety Seat?

Japanese law requires that children under 6 years old use a child safety seat.
